Just last week, I referred to client confusion in determining their eligibility to the various Government Stimulus Measures & Incentives.
One such measure is the JobKeeper Payment, which was passed by Parliament on 9 April 2020. Discussions with our clients over the last week have shown us there is still confusion as to how this applies.
Under this scheme, an employer can claim a $1,500 per fortnight wages subsidy per eligible employee from 30 March 2020. The first payments by the ATO will be received by employers from the first week of May.
For a number of our clients, this measure will mean the difference between closing the business and keeping the business going.
