As 2024 is just around the corner, and as many businesses prepare to close for the Christmas/New Year break, I wanted to use this chance to reflect on the year that’s been.
I’ve put together a summary of the highlights of our year at Lark Business Advisory below!
Expanding our team
- As a result of the rapid growth at Lark, our HR focus has been to recruit 2 full-time Senior Accountants.
- The current environment for hiring accountants is still the tightest market I can ever recall in my career. Despite the challenges we are pleased to announce we have hired a new senior accountant, Rachael Shi, who started with us on 4 December.
- We have also signed an Employment Agreement with a Senior Accountant/SMSF Manager who would be looking to commence employment with us in February 2024.
- It is very exciting to be able to expand our team in a very tight employment market.

- Throughout 2023, we again received an unprecedented number of referrals both from clients & colleagues.
- This has resulted in us recruiting a further 2 Senior Accountants to our team which will give us the capacity to service the referrals that are coming our way.
- We are very grateful to all our referrers for entrusting us with looking after either their family, friends and/or colleagues.

Regularly visiting our South East Queensland & Sydney Clients
- In 2023, as in prior years, we made numerous visits to our Brisbane office, South East Queensland client’s business premises and homes as well as visiting our Sydney clients at their business premises and homes.
- We look forward to continuing to make these visits in 2024!
Regularly Attending Conferences / Events
- At Lark, we are continually focusing on best practice, and the best way to do this is by attending conferences and events and communicating with like-minded professionals.Throughout 2023, we attended:
- 2 Two-Day Collaboration Circle Events
- These events involved a 2 day conference with other accountants and working together to address areas of improvement within our practices.
- ATL Practice Succession Workshop in Melbourne
- This conference was aimed at what steps to take when preparing a business for succession. The insights gained will be very useful in advising clients who are looking to sell/transition out of their businesses in the coming years.
- 2 Two-Day Collaboration Circle Events
In conclusion, we’d like to thank all of our clients and professional colleagues for their ongoing support.
We also wanted to let you know that the team at Lark are taking a well-earned break over Christmas/New Years.
Our office closed on Tuesday, 19th December, 2023 and it will reopen at 9am Monday, 8th January, 2024.
We wish all of our clients & colleagues a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas & New Year period with their families.
